The Arizona Fall League continued with three games on Thursday. Jonathan Schoop, playing shortstop and batting ninth for the Surprise Saguaros against the Peoria Javelinas (14-5) was part of an impressive 20-hit attack by Surprise. He went 3-for-3 with two walks, his third AFL home run, two runs scored and a RBI. Aaron Altherr suited up for Peoria, walked and scored a run in four plate appearances.
Michael Roth meanwhile started for the Mesa Solar Sox against the Glendale Desert Dogs, which played without Max Kepler. He issued four hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in four solid innings. He struck out one and his ERA is 3.43. South Africa’s Gift Ngoepe went 0-for-4 in Scottsdale’s 2-4 loss to the Salt River Rafters.
