The two Serie A2 clubs ANZIO and PATERNO will start a best-of-five promotion series this weekend, with the winner securing a spot in next year’s Italian Baseball League, replacing the relegated clubs PALFINGER REGGIO EMILIA.
PATERNO CITTA DEI NORMANNI went 28-8 in the regular season finishing in front of ASD BASEBALL TEAM VERONA (23-13) and ETECNO1-FONTANA SALA BAGANZA (22-14) in Division A of the Serie A2. ASD ANZIO BC had a 29-7 record in the preliminary phase, heading Division B, edging out FINPROJECT UNIONE PICENA BASEBALL (25-10) and COMCOR ENGINEERING MODENA BC (22-14) in the standings.
Both teams moved easily through the semi-finals, sweeping the best-of-five series. PATERNO won 7-4, 1-0 and 6-1 against PICENA. ANZIO beat VERONA 12-9, 9-4 and 16-0 (7). Games one and two will be played on Saturday, August 29. Games three to possible five are scheduled for next weekend.
