An anti-ode to the IOC for removing baseball from the Olympics

Posted on August 6, 2008August 6, 2008 by philipp

John Miller, head coach of the Brussels Kangaroos and a reporter for a major American newspaper, is chronicling his team’s 2008 season in a column that will appear every Monday on mister-baseball.com. It is the first of several Mister-Baseball Blogs this year.

Olympics Special: An anti-ode to the IOC for removing baseball from the Olympics program starting in 2012

The head goes Pong and Ping

When you think about Beijing

How the fat lady is making her last call

For Abner Doubleday’s baseball

Why is no handball, fencing or luge

Considered a second-plage stooge?

No it has to be our diamonds of courses

Not badminton, kayak or the bleeping horses

What’s wrong with balls and bats, what can one do?

Was it really too hard to get rid of taekwondo?

Tell Mr. Jacques Rogge the Belgian Nelly

The world wants sliders and dingers on televised telly

So root for the Dutch, the Cubans and Team USA

Then watch your Olympic Committee for other sports pay

Come on, who wants their kid winning

At handball, shooting or synchronized swimming?

So get drunk, get up and go hurling

And prep for 2010 Olympic curling
