Andruw Jones, Rick van den Hurk not playing for Team Europe

While Team “Europe” has been traveling to Tokyo, Japan, it gets revealed through Honkbalsite.com that two of the most known players won’t be playing in the Global Baseball Matchup against Japan on March 10 and 11 at the Tokyo Dome.

Andruw Jones and Rick van den Hurk are off the roster. While Van den Hurk is missing the exhibition due to an injury which he suffered in one of the first Spring Training games, free agent Jones has opted to spent some time with his family instead of going to Japan.

Both players already have been replaced on the 28-player roster. Mike Bolsenbroek (Netherlands) and Jakub Sladek (Czech Republic) have been named to the team last week. The games will be shown live at Eurosport 2 next week.
