Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who has played for the Netherlands in the past, got awarded his third Gold Glove Award by Rawlings this past week. Additionally he was named Defensive Player of the Year by Wilson. The 28-year-old Simmons led the MLB with 32 defensive runs saved this past season according to FanGraphs. He committed just 14 errors in 685 chances and also led the MLB with a 4.2 defensive WAR according to Baseball-Reference.com. At the plate Simmons batted .278/.331/.421 with 14 home runs, 77 runs scored and 69 RBI in a career high 158 games played. Since 2016 he is playing for the Angels.
