Andrea Marcon is new president of the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS). He is succeeding Riccardo Fraccari as FIBS President, who now will solely focus on his role as president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

Marcon won the election over Massimo Fochi and Alberto Antolini. A second-round run-off was needed with Marcon beating Fochi 51.33 percent to 48.66. In the first round of the election Fochi had received the most votes with 43 percent ahead of Marcon (34) and Antolini (20).

Marcon was born in Montreal, Canada, but his family moved to Italy when he was eight years old. He is a former umpire and former Chief of Umpires at the European Softball Federation. Fraccari had been president of FIBS since 2001.

The rest of the FIBS executive committee consists of Roberta Soldi, Luigi Cerchio, Fabrizio De Robbio, Marco Mannucci, Gigi Mignola, Totoni Sanna, Lucio Silvetti, Daniela Castellani, Filippo Comelli and Alessandro Cappuccini.
