Italian corner infielder Alex Liddi has signed a Minor League contract with the Chicago White Sox organization. He most likely also will receive an invitation to Major League Spring Training to compete for a spot on the big league roster. The 25-year-old twice got designated for assignment this year, first by the Seattle Mariners and secondly by the Baltimore Orioles. He then became a free agent and is currently playing winter ball in the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico. In the past three seasons Liddi has a batting line of .208/.266/.370 with six home runs at the Major League level. In the Minors he has been a .276/.339/.464 hitter.
