Italian corner infielder Alex Liddi is back in affiliated minor league ball. The first European player from MLB’s European Academy program to reach the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners in 2011, has signed a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals organization. The 29-year-old is expected to be assigned to Double-A or Triple-A to start the new season.
Liddi already played for the Royals organization in 2015. In 2016 he went to the Baltimore Orioles. Last year he played in Mexico. Between 2011 and 2013 he appeared in 61 MLB games, batting .208 with six home runs.
