Italian third baseman Alex Liddi once again got invited to play for the Worlds Team in the 2010 MLB Futures Game during the All-Star Festivities in Anaheim, California in mid-July. He is going to be the lone European player in the contest. The game will be played on Sunday, July 11, two days before the All-Star game. Liddi, who was named as the best California League player in 2009, is currently a member of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (Seattle Mariners affiliate) in the Southern League (Double-A). He already represented Italy in last year’s Futures Game at Bush Stadium in St. Louis.
Quote Baseball America:
Italy has produced other minor league players, but Liddi is by far the best Italian prospect ever. He has major offensive potential and was MVP of the California League last season.
