The ORKAS keep on winning. On Tuesday they defeated the PHILLIES 4-2 for their ninth straight victory in the Liga Paralela in Venezuela. Walter Correa (3-4, 2 2B, 2 runs) scored in the first inning to put the BBC up in front. Jose Aponte connected for his second homerun of the year to highlight a three-run fifth. He had three hits and three RBIs in five at bats.
Alexis Fumero (W 1-1) shined over six innings, allowing just three hits and a walk, while striking out one. Thanks to a bunch of double plays, he only faced one batter over the minimum. Steven Van Groningen (S 1) replaced the struggling Alexis Marquez in the eighth and pitched the last 1 1/3 innings of the game to pick up his first save.
Bryon Bell had a single in five at bats. Zair Koeiman singled and walked twice in his three plate appearances. Ricky Thomas walked once. Sytse Visbsen and Daniel Bittar entered the game as defensive replacements in the end.
The ORKAS close out their first month in the Liga Paralela against the LEONES, the CARIBES and the NEW YORK METS affiliate. They are currently leading the standings with a 10-2 record.
