The ORKAS stopped their short losing streak on Friday, when they reached a tie against the NEW YORK METS affiliate in the Venezuelan Liga Paralela. Antonio Hernandez doubled and reached home on a RBI by Gerson Manzanillo in the eighth for a 1-0 ORKAS-lead. However the METS came back, as they evened the score in the bottom of the ninth through a RBI single by Nestor Moreno.
The game went into extras, where neither team was able to score. It had to be stopped after the first extra inning, as both team got into a huge fight, which led to injuries on both sides. We hope to have more details in a couple of days.
Carlos Farias started for ALB and impressed over eight scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and three walks, while striking out four. His ERA shrunk to 0.78. Luis Camacaro replaced him in the ninth and blew the lead.
Sytse Visbsen was the starting catcher for the ORKAS and was unlucky in three at bats. Corner infielders Daniel Bittar and Bryon Bell each singled once in four at bats. Ricky Thomas struck out three times in four at bats.
The ORKAS host the BRAVOS on Saturday, before another off day on the beach on Sunday.
