Here’s a quick look at the South Africans in the minor leagues.

The elder statesman of South African professionals has 2 hits in his last 10 games. He’s 20 at bats short of his cumulative 2015 season, and he’s got 20 less hits, 8 less walks, and 35 more strikeouts. While continuing to play shortstop nearly every day at the Triple-A level, and remaining on the Pirates 40-man roster, Ngoepe has slashed .208/.273/.338 in 284 at bats this season.

Anthony Phillips, Los Angeles Angels.
Current team: Arkansas Travelers (AA)
Phillips had a 4-hit game in late July that boosts his last-10 game average to .355. He also had 7 walks in that time. He’s hitting .255/.330/.310 in 90 games and 274 at bats.

Dylan Unsworth, Seattle Mariners.
Current team: Jacksonville Generals (AA)
Unsworth remains on the DL and hasn’t pitched since early June. In 9 starts he had a 1.16 ERA, including a complete game shutout.

Vince Deyzel, Pittsburgh Pirates.
Current team: GCL Pirates (rookie)
Deyzel has 5 innings in two appearances over the last two weeks, with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. In 12.2 innings on the season, he’s allowed 12 hits, put 8 guys on with walks or hit batters, and struck out 12 while going 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA and a save.

Victor Ngoepe, Pittsburgh Pirates.
Current team: GCL Pirates (rookie)
Ngoepe is hitting .152 with 4 runs, 5 walks, and 7 strikeouts in his last 10 games. In 28 games and 97 at bats, he has 5 extra base hits, 10 walks, 25 strikeouts, and 7 stolen bases in 9 attempts while slashing .196/.297/.268.

Callan Pearce, Minnesota Twins.
