Mister-Baseball had the opportunity to ask Dutch head coach Robert Eenhoorn questions. Due to the press conference last week, a bunch of them, were answered already. We further asked him the following:
MRBB: What are you expecting from the National Team at the Olympics? Which team do you consider as favorite?
R. Eenhoorn: “Our goal is to play our best baseball. We know this is the only way to have a chance to reach the semi finals. Right we are preparing to make the possibility of playing our best baseball as high as possible. With our experience of the last three years we are confident that we will able to compete against everybody. In this strong field it is tough to pick a favorite.”
MRBB: Which player would he consider as the best Dutch/European prospect in Baseball? Do you believe that, sometime, European players will have a similar role in the MLB like
Japanese at the moment? What are you generally thinking about the development of Baseball
in Europe?
R. Eenhoorn: We have many prospects at the moment which makes it hard to pick one. Right now Japanese players are further than European players, but I believe we will have more Dutch players in the Major League soon. Holland has been a good ambassador for European Baseball with the good results over the past couple of years. It would be smart of the European Federation if they start using that knowledge to raise the level in Europe. It would take too long to use this platform to mention all the ideas that I have.
