The French Division I is opening the 2019 season this coming weekend. While the Rouen Huskies, Montpellier Barracudas, Clermont-Ferrand Arvernes and Valenciennes will be off on the first game day, the other eight teams will be on the field in week one.
The French Division I is going to a 12-team league in 2019, split into two divisions of six teams apiece. Group A includes Clermont-Ferrand, Montpellier, Rouen, Savigny, Toulouse and Valenciennes. Group B consists of La Rochelle, Metz, Montigny, Nice, Paris and Senart. The two divisions weren’t slotted geographically, but based on performance.
The regular season will be played from March 23 to June 15. Afterwards a playoff round follows with the top two advancing to the French Finals, which will be played August 17 to 25. The Rouen Huskies are the defending champions.
