#Premier12 Round-Up: Standings begin to take shape after Day 4

It’s already day four at the Premier12 even though teams have played only two games apiece so far due to the opening games in Sapporo and Taichung on Sunday and Monday. It is still early, but the tournament with the top 12 teams from the Men’s Baseball World Ranking make up a competitive event.

Only one game so far was a blowout, as South Korea scored all ten runs of a 10-1 drubbing against the Dominican Republic in the last three innings on Wednesday. Japan and Canada remain the lone undefeated teams in the Premier12 with close wins over Mexico and Puerto Rico. Only the Dominican and Italian squads (lost against Chinese Taipei) already are down 0-2 in the standings. Cuba edged out the Netherlands, giving both teams 1-1 record in Pool A. In Group B Venezuela stunned Team USA with both teams also sitting at 1-1.

Thursday will be the third game day of the first round, which will be followed by an off day on Friday. The day starts at Taichung and Taoyuan with contests between Wednesday winners South Korea and Venezuela, as well as the Caribbean duel Cuba vs Puerto Rico. In the evening Mexico clashes with their northern neighbor USA in Taipei City, the Dominican Republic hopes to rebound against Japan in a meeting of the lone World Baseball Classic winners in Taoyuan, Italy faces arch rival Netherlands at Dou-Liou and Chinese Taipei hosts Canada in Taichung.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is running circles to solve the technical problems with its new website. A new hitch occurred on Wednesday, when a fake claim by a non-rights holder disrupted the stream on YouTube. WBSC quickly switched to Ustream to solve the issue. Check the links down below to follow the Premier12. Make also sure to check WBSC’s Twitter and Facebook feeds for any important information. And obviously check back with Mister-Baseball.com for instant game recaps.
