2011 in Review – Belgian First Division – Hoboken Pioneers

Even though 2012 already started we still look back at the 2011 season in European Baseball. Up next is the Belgian First Division.

Hoboken Pioneers

2011 Record: 25-14
2011 Ranking: 4th place in the Belgian First Division after regular season. The Hoboken Pioneers didn’t exactly dominate the league in 2011, but still ended up with the championship as they were there when it counted. After fourth place in the regular season, the Pioneers finished in first after the semi-final round robin and swept the Namur Angels in three games to defend the title.
Runs Scored: 253 (2nd)
Runs Allowed: 195 (2nd)

Best Batter: Dennis De Quindt. He batted .300/.452/.400 with two homeruns, seven doubles, 26 runs and 19 RBI in 38 games.
Best OPS: Thomas De Wolf 1.688 (in eight games)
Most Homeruns: Randy Giorgiadis 3
Most RBI: David Herssens 35
Most Runs Scored: David Herssens, Dennis Ribbens 38

Best Pitcher: Derek Bondo. He went 9-1 with an ERA of 2.48 in 13 games. He struck out 99 batters in 90 2/3 innings, walking 39.
