Team USA was on the verge to lose against Canada, but came back to win the duel, when Jared Clark scored the game winner on a wild pitch in the eleventh period. They overcame a 0-3 deficit in the bottom of the eighth through an error and a two-run single by Christian Colon. The maple leafs had taken the lead on RBIs by Sammie Starr, Grant Kveder and Eric Cattoni. Andrew Oliver started for the USA and allowed one unearned run on one hit and five walks. He was opposed by Mat Wilson, who went eight innings, giving up six hits, three runs (1 ER) and three base on balls. Mike Leake picked up the win, Brandon Kaye took the loss.

Even before the United States reached 4-0 in the night session, Japan used a 13-run third to crush Lithuania 25-0 in seven innings to stay undefeated at the World University Baseball Championship. Keijiro Mtsumoto went five-for-seven with five runs scored and nine RBI. Hiroki Uemoto scored also five times. Tsuyoshi Takashima and Mtsumoto each hit homeruns. But also their pitchers were brilliant. Only an error denied the perfect game bid. Shingo Tatsumi, Manasori Fujihara and Masahiro Inui combined on a no-hitter.
