Netherlands – Cuba 1-4

Cuba 110 000 002 4 14 1
Netherlands 000 000 001 1 6 1

After Cuba surprisingly lost to Curacao on Friday and rained out on Saturday, they got some redemption on Sunday, defeating host Netherlands 4-1 at the World Port Tournament in Rotterdam. Yadier Pedroso (W) went the distance, allowing just one run on six hits, while striking out ten. Cuba took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a RBI single by Yoelvis Fiss in the first and a RBI double by Yasel Puig in the second. Consecutive RBI singles by Rusney Castillo and Yoilan Cerce in the ninth doubled the lead. The Dutch team got on the board in the bottom of the frame with a RBI single by Michael Duursma. Kevin Heijstek (L) gave up two runs on eight hits in six innings.

Germany – Curacao 1-5

Curacao 000 120 200 5 8 1
Germany 001 000 000 1 7 1

The young German team suffered its third loss in the third game at the World Port Tournament, as Curacao beat them 5-1 on Sunday evening. The squad of head coach Greg Frady took a 1-0 lead in the third, when Sascha Lutz scored on a RBI single by Simon Guehring. But Curacao answered with a RBI double by Jair Josepha in the fourth and took the lead on back to back hits by Johannes Gregorius and Randolph Kirindongo in the fifth. Two more runs in the seventh provided some insurance for the Caribbeans. Duko Jansen (W) allowed six hits, a run and a walk in seven innings. Andre Hughes (L) issued five hits, three runs and four bb in six frames.
