2010 in Review – Dutch Hoofdklasse – DOOR Neptunus Rotterdam

After starting into the annual review season with the Italian Baseball League, we’re continuing with the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

DOOR Neptunus Rotterdam

2010 Record: 39-3
2010 Ranking: 1st place in Dutch Hoofdklasse after regular season. DOOR Neptunus had one of the most dominant seasons in Netherlands Baseball. During the regular season they broke their own 21-year-old record by winning 23 straight games from May 8 to June 29. They didn’t allow a run during their three-game sweep over Konica Minolta Pioniers in the semi-finals. In the Holland Series Rotterdam downed L&D Amsterdam in six games for their 13th title.

Runs Allowed: 78 (1st)

Best Batter: Eugene Kingsale. The former Major Leaguer batted .405 (OBP .550/SLG .524) with 30 runs scored and 19 RBI in just 24 games this year.

Most RBI: Raily Legito 35 (2nd in league)
Most Runs Scored: Benjamin Dille 39 (led league)
Most Stolen Bases: Danny Rombley 12 (3rd in league)

Best Pitcher: Leon Boyd. Coming fresh off his release by the Toronto Blue Jays organization the right-hander posted a 9-0 record with an ERA of 0.39 in 15 games (nine starts) this season. He struck out 83 batters in 69 1/3 innings, while walking 25. Neptunus had four pitchers with nine wins on its staff.

Best ERA Reliever: Jorian van Acker 0.71
Most Strikeouts: Leon Boyd 83 (2nd in league)
Most Walks: Dushan Ruzic 26
