2010 in Review – Dutch Hoofdklasse – Almere Magpies

After starting into the annual review season with the Italian Baseball League, we’re continuing with the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

Almere Magpies

2010 Record: 9-33
2010 Ranking: 8th place after the regular season in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. After finishing in last place the Almere Magpies lost in three games to Mr. Cocker HCAW in the playdowns and in four games to ADO in the relegation series. Almere defeated UVV in the promotion/relegation series in three games. But due to financial reasons the club decided to leave the league anyway and will be replaced by UVV in 2011.
Runs Scored: 109 (tied for 7th)
Runs Allowed: 282 (8th)

Best Batter: Jason Orman. He batted .311 (OBP .427/SLG .364) in just 23 games this year. He was the lone regular player with a batting average above .250.
Best OPS: Jason Orman .805
Most Home Runs: Ferd van Stekelenburg 2
Most RBI: Giovanni Samboe 14
Most Runs Scored: Wesley Bernardus 17
Most Stolen Bases: Joey Berkenbosch 8

Best Pitcher: Dennis Burgersdijk. He had a 1-5 record with an ERA of 4.32 in 16 appearances (nine starts), splitting time between bullpen and starting rotation. He struck out 28 batters in 50 innings, while walking 21.
Best ERA Starter: Dennis Burgersdijk 4.32
Best ERA Reliever: Martin Kuipers 4.02
Most Strikeouts: Scott Ronnenbergh, Sten van den Bedem 40
Most Walks: Justin Prinstein 38
Most Innings Pitched: Sten van den Bedem 69.0
