2010 in Review – Italian Baseball League – Danesi Nettuno

The season in European Baseball is over. It is time to look back. We will start our annual review series with the Italian Baseball League.

Danesi Nettuno

2010 Record: 23-19
2010 Ranking: 5th in Italian Baseball League. Considered as one of the favorites for the championship, Danesi Nettuno started with just four wins in the first 14 games to miss the playoffs in the end. Even a 14-2 run in May and June didn’t help much.
Runs Scored: 191 (5th)
Runs Allowed: 180 (6th)

perez-swingBest Batter: Lino Connell. The Venezuelan infielder batted .320 (OBP .408/SLG .434) with ten extra base hits, 20 runs scored and 17 RBI in 32 games before a suspension ended his season abruptly.
Best OPS: Luis Perez .852
Most Home Runs: Lino Connell, Vinicio Sparanga 2
Most RBI: Renato Imperiali 25
Most Runs Scored: Manny Alexander 31
Most Stolen Bases: Manny Alexander 22 (led IBL)

Best Pitcher: Kris Wilson. The former Major Leaguer for the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees had a 7-4 record with an ERA of 2.50 in 13 starts in his first year in Italy. He struck out 70 batters in 75 2/3 innings, while walking only ten.
Best ERA Starter: Kris Wilson 2.50
Best ERA Reliever: Remigio Leal 2.73
Most Strikeouts: Kris Wilson 70 (4th in IBL)
Most Walks: Mark La Macchia, Carlos Richetti 27
Most Innings Pitched: Kris Wilson 75.2
