As one of the last leagues in Europe, the French Elite League will kick of its best-of-five championship series with games one and two this weekend. The Savigny Lions and the Rouen Huskies will take on each other in the finals. Savigny won the regular season title with 20 wins in 24 games, including three out of four against Rouen.

However the Huskies took first place and clinched home field advantage in the round-robin playoffs, winning all seven games they played, three of them against the Lions. Savigny can win its sixth national title, Rouen its seventh and sixth straight. Both teams squared off in the finals three times before in 2003, 2005 and 2009. The Huskies won all three series with a combined record of 9-2.

They are expected to send out the usual pitching staff with Keino Perez, Anthony Piquet, Giovanni Ouin and Joris Bert to the mound. The Lions will counter with Pierrick Lemestre, Tim Stewart, Kyle Nash and Eloi Secleppe among others. You can follow the games via Live Play by Play through FFBSC.org
