Matt Vance greets Philipp Howard after one of his four homerunsRegensburg’s shortstop Matt Vance put on a hitting display on Saturday to lead his team to a sweep in Mainz, improving to 8-0 for the 2010 season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. He homered four times in the doubleheader, as the Buchbinder Legionaere won 9-7 and 13-2. The Mannheim Tornados (in Saarlouis), Haar Disciples (in Neuenburg) and the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe (in Gauting), also celebrated sweeps this weekend in the southern division, although the defending champion had to go through extra innings in game two against the Indians.

The Cologne Cardinals has entered the win column, as they won twice at the winless Pulheim Gophers. The Paderborn Untouchables solidified third place against the Dohren Wild Farmers one week before their showdown with Solingen.
