TŘEBÍČ, Czechia – On Day 3 of the Baseball Euros, Great Britain defeated Italy for the first time ever at the senior national team level to win Group B and deny Italy a chance to medal at the European Baseball Championship. Meanwhile, Spain blasted the host nation, 9-0, to win Group A, while the Netherlands and Germany complete the list of group winners.
Earlier in the day, No. 41 Greece pulled an upset on Austria, ranked 26th in the world and Israel edged by a never-say-die Belgium. Elsewhere, Sweden and France won convincingly, with each qualifying for the playoffs with their victories.
The day’s games, like the rest of the European Baseball Championship, were streamed live on https://www.baseballeurope.tv, with Mister-Baseball.com’s Managing Editor Gabriel Fidler on the call for both Pool B games alongside Kamil Pejchal in the opener and Chris Knoblock and Ryan Johnson for the wild GB – Italy matchup. After a day off tomorrow, Wednesday, the tournament resumes in the playoff and placement stages.
