Mexico and Japan sit atop of the standings in the Super Round at the 2019 WBSC Premier12. The matchup between the two leaders was won by Samurai Japan by a score of 3-1. Japan jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after two frames. On the mound Shogo Imanaga and three relievers kept Mexico to one hit in nine innings. Both teams are now 3-1 in the Super Round.
Mexico had opened the Super Round with shutouts over Chinese Taipei and Australia. Japan also prevailed against Australia, but lost to the United States for their lone loss so far. Australia edged out Team USA 2-1 on Wednesday, continuing to show its strong performance in the Premier12. The Super Round continues on Friday. Four games are left on the schedule.
