2019 Premier12, First Round: Japan, Chinese Taipei advance / Netherlands bow out with third loss

Posted on November 7, 2019November 7, 2019 by philipp

The 2019 Premier12 first round is in full effect with all three groups in play. The pool in Guadalajara ended on Tuesday evening with Mexico beating the Netherlands 10-2. It was the third win for Mexico, while the Dutch lost for the third time. Mexico and the United States advance from that group to the Super Round. The Dutch team scored through Gianfranco Wawoe and Kalian Sams in the top of the eighth. Mexico already led 8-0 at that point in the game. Already being eliminated the Netherlands coaching staff send 10 pitchers to the mound and used 14 players in offense.

Meanwhile in Taiwan Chinese Taipei and Japan jumped out with two wins apiece in the first two games against Venezuela and Puerto Rico, already securing Super Round tickets. Both will meet on Thursday in the last game of that group. In Seoul host Korea shut out Australia, while Canada did the same with Cuba. First round play continues through Friday. The Super Round starts on November 11 in Chiba and Tokyo, Japan.
