The 2017 Women’s Softball European Championship will be played from Sunday, June 25 to Saturday, July 1 in the Milan area in Italy with Bollate being the main host. 23 national teams from all around Europe will compete in the most important softball tournament in Europe.
23 competing teams means a logistic challenge with five fields being used throughout the event. Caronno, Rho and Bovisio also will be playing fields. Four groups were made up by the Technical Commission after a couple of withdrawals had to cancel the draw from the ESF Congress in February.
- Group A: Croatia, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland
- Group B: Germany, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Netherlands, Slovakia
- Group C: Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Poland, Sweden
- Group D: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine
The first round will be played from Sunday to Tuesday morning. Only the top two teams from each pool advance to the next round of the top eight. Italy is not only host, but also defending champion and with ten titles record winner. But the Netherlands are poised to capture the trophy and tie Italy at the top of the record table.
