The Congress of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) took place in Brussels (Belgium) on Saturday March 12th.

The Congress was opened by the President of the International Federation (IBAF) Riccardo Fraccari who emphasized the importance of Baseball & Softball working together for a joint bid in front of the ICO for Olympic reinstatement.

Following his speech the President of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) Martin Miller together with the President of the European Softball Federation (ESF) Andre van Overbeek presented and signed a CEB/ESF agreement regarding a future cooperation. “We are convinced that the most important shared objective of both sports — to regain a place on the Olympic programme — will be significantly furthered by the approach of a joint bid as one sport for that specific purpose.”

Other guests to the Congress were Jason Holowaty and Pat Doyle (Major League Baseball), Daniel Velte, Beata Katzuba and Patrick Wilson (Little League International), Abraham Key (Pony) and Don Fehr (Major League Baseball Player Association).

The Congress also awarded GERMANY as the Federation of the Year.
Individuals Awards went to:
FAUSTO NARDI (Italy) as the Scorer of the Year.
JENS WAIDER (Germany) as the Umpire of the Year.
ARNOŠT NESŇAL (Czech Republic) as the Coach of the Year.

Next year’s Congress will be hosted by the Federation of the Netherlands (that will be celebrating its 100th anniversary) from March 15-18, 2012.
