2009 in Review – Dutch Hoofdklasse – Mr. Cocker HCAW

During the next couple of weeks, maybe months, we are going to look back at the 2009 season. We will start with the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

2009 Record: 11-30 (one tie)
2009 Final Ranking: Sixth Place in Hoofdklasse. During the playdowns they defeated seventh-ranked ADO in five games to stay off relegation.
Runs Scored: 145
Runs Allowed: 260

Best Batter: Jason Rees. The Australian outfielder, who played in the Israel Baseball League in 2007, batted .327/.429/.540 with seven homeruns, one triple, nine doubles, 27 runs scored and 23 RBI in 42 games, playing center field. He was second in the league in homeruns and total bases (81), fifth in slugging and eighth in walks (26) and hits (49).
Best OPS: Jason Rees .969
Most Home Runs: Jason Rees 7
Most RBI: Jason Rees 23
Most Runs scored: Jason Rees 27
Most Stolen Bases: Quensley Bazoer 12 (5th in Hoofdklasse)

Best Pitcher: Andre Hughes. Close call between him and Kevin Miner. The German national team left-hander was 3-4 with an ERA of 3.09 in 13 starts during his debut season in the Hoofdklasse. He struck 69 batters in 78 2/3 innings, while walking 30.
Best ERA: Kevin Miner 2.87
Most Strikeouts: Andre Hughes 69 (8th in Hoofdklasse)
Most Walks: Kevin Miner 36 (7th most in Hoofdklasse)
Most Innings Pitched: Kevin Miner 84.2
