2009 Division de Honor Season to start on March 14

The 2009 season in the Spanish Division de Honor is scheduled to begin on the weekend of March 14/15. After shrinking to nine teams last winter, the league extends to ten next year. The HALCONES DE VIGO finished in first place in the Primera Division (second division in Spain) and receives the promotion. The ASTROS VALENCIA, which finished last in the 2008 campaign, won the relegation series against the SEVILLA RED SOX and stay in the league. The MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ are the defending champion. They also the Copa del Rey for August 7th to 9th, which is a cup tournament for the top four teams of the championship. The relegation series will take place in September.
