In 2013 a new baseball league was formed in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine (www.kievbaseball.com.ua). Almost 70 games were played in the League. Team NewEra won the Kiev’s baseball championship 2013 one month ago.

During September and October the 1st open Kiev baseball Cup 2013 took place with a total of 27 games. 9 teams played in the open Cup – 8 of them were from Kiev. Mambises de Cuba beat NewEra 15-5 in the final on October 19th. The team “Mambises de Cuba” consists of many Cuban players, some of which already have Ukrainian citizenship. Whenever the Cuban players take part this team is the best in Kiev right now.

The season 2014 will be starting in May with the “Super Cup KBL 2014”: NewEra (Champion of KBL 2013) vs. Mambises de Cuba (winner of Open Cup of KBL 2013).

At the moment Kiev baseball and softball federation is in detailed discussions with Kiev’s authorities to build a baseball field in Kiev in the first half of 2014. The intention is to play a baseball tournament for adults “Cup of Capitals 2014” on the new field on 22-24 August 2014. Therefore the Kiev baseball federation will invite AllStar teams of capitals of Europe (for more information you can contact Mr. Andrei Butnari, the Administrator of KBL at moldpirates@bk.ru).
