1st German Academies Tournament Showcase in Paderborn from June 4 to 7

On the initiative and organized by the German Baseball Academy (DBA) the first German Academies Showcase Baseball Tournament will be held in Paderborn from June 4 to 7, 2015. Under the patronage of the German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV) the top German U19 athletes will square off against each other over four days.

In addition to the academy teams from Regensburg, Paderborn and Rhein-Main, the DBA All-Stars, consisting of the best German U19 players, who do not train at an academy location, will determine in a pressure-packed tournament a winner.

The aim of the German Academies Showcase is to provide Germany´s talented youth even more high-level game experience. For the German Junior National Team the new Academies Showcase, in which also talent that has not yet made the Junior´s squad can draw attention to themselves, is one of the main events in the preparation for this year’s U18 European Championships in Ostrava (CZE) in July – besides the “Early Bird” Los Angeles Dodgers Invitational in Valencia and the MLB “Spring Tournament” in Barcelona.

“The German Academies Showcase will be a great event. Over four straight days, the best U19 talent will be tested in a way that is essential for the development of the players and can sustainably raise the performance level of our Junior National Team.”, Germany´s U18 Head Coach Chris Dresel explains the significance of the event.

The organizers plan to permanently establish the new junior event in the DBV´s schedules for the future also to maintain in contact with national and international baseball organizations and scouts. DBA manager and the event´s initiator Georg Bull underlines the importance of the showcase: “Practice like you play and valuable game experience, that is what German Baseball needs. The Showcase offers maximum competition and winning will require players and the coaches alike going all out. These pressure situations, which the Showcase will create, can be very valuable information for the Junior National Team Coach going into this year´s European Championship. “

Host of the first edition are the Untouchables Paderborn, which not only invite baseball experts but also families, fans and all baseball lovers to Paderborn.
