2010 in Review – German Baseball-Bundesliga – Bonn Capitals

We are underway with our review series of the European Baseball season 2010. We already looked at the Italian Baseball League and the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Now at the plate: the German Baseball-Bundesliga.

2010 Record: 16-12
2010 Ranking: 3rd place in northern division of Baseball-Bundesliga after regular season. After two years without playoff participation, the Bonn Capitals returned to the quarterfinals, where they got swept by the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe in three games.
Runs Scored: 141 (3rd)
Runs Allowed: 112 (3rd)

Best Batter: Christian Nsien. The 29-year-old infielder returned to Bonn after two seasons with the Alligators and batted .333 (OBP .464/SLG .515) with 13 extra base hits, 25 runs and 17 RBI in 27 games.

Most Home Runs: Jesse LaCasse 3
Most RBI: Jesse LaCasse 25 (tied for 4th in league)

Best Pitcher: Tim Henkenjohann. The 30-year-old tall right-hander was his usual dominant self, going 8-3 with an ERA of 2.43 in 13 starts. He struck out 133 batters in 96 1/3 innings, while walking 46.

Best ERA Reliever: Max Schmitz 2.30
