32-year-old Venezuelan infielder Wuillians Vasquez apparently got cleared to play for Nicaragua in the upcoming World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Mexicali, Mexico. The former minor leaguer with the New York Yankees has been playing winter ball in Nicaragua and would qualify as resident to play for that country. Last year he played for T&A San Marino in the Italian Baseball League, batting .364/.447/.570 in 28 games. Nicaragua faces Germany, Czech Republic and Mexico from March 17 to 20 at the WBC Qualifier in Mexicali.
