Team North 001 000 001 2 4 2

Team South has won the All Star Game in the Dutch Hoofdklasse on Sunday in Utrecht. Led by MVP Jeffrey Arends, who actually didn’t play for DOOR Neptunus in the last month of the season due to disciplinary reasons, they celebrated a lopsided 9-2 victory. Arends went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI. Danny Rombley reached base five times to score three runs. Phil Ortez went deep for the South. Sidney de Jong had two hits for the North in probably his last game as active player. 14 pitchers took the mound in the exhibition game, which concluded the 2012 season in the Hoofdklasse.

Bryan Engelhardt won the homerun derby prior to the All Star Game. He also hit a Peugeot 107, which was placed behind the right field fence by a sponsor and he could keep the car as prize trophy. Engelhardt won the derby with ten long balls, defeating Wesley Connor (9) and Jeffrey Arends (7). All three broke the previous record of five.
