Just a few days after hitting grand slams on consecutive days, Italian third baseman Alex Liddi has left the Major League training camp. The Seattle Mariners optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma, indicating that he will start at this level this season. He batted .385/.429/.846 with two homeruns, three runs and eight RBI in eight games this spring. He played in Double-A last year.

PEORIA, Ariz. – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves at the Mariners Major League spring camp on Saturday.
Optioned to AAA Tacoma (3):

* Left-Handed Pitcher (1): Mauricio Robles
* Infielder (1): Alex Liddi
* Outfielder (1): Carlos Peguero

Optioned to AA Jackson (1):

* Outfielder (1): Johermyn Chavez

Re-Assigned to Minor League Camp (2):

* Right-Handed Pitcher (1): Yusmeiro Petit
* Left-Handed Pitcher (1): James Paxton

Today’s roster moves leave the Mariners with 58 players in their Major League camp: 38 roster players (1 on 60-day DL) and 20 non-roster invitees.
