The Mainz Athletics reached the German Baseball finals for the 1st time in club history winning the best of five series against the Solingen Alligators 3-1. In other playoff action the Regensburg Legionare beat Heideheim also 3-1. The German Championship finals will start on September 22nd after the European Baseball Championships in Barcelona. This series also means that for the first time in over 10 years a club from the southern division will win the German championship. The northern divison had dominated the last decade with teams like Paderborn, Cologne, Bonn and Solingen.
