South Korea completed the preliminary round with a perfect 7-0 record after shutting out the Netherlands on Wednesday 10-0 in eight innings. The European team is going to finish 1-6.
Dae Ho Lee, who went two-for-five with three RBI, opened the match with a two-run homerun and his offense continued to score till the end. Hyun Soo Kim also drove in three. Yong Kyu Lee had four hits in four at bats. Take Keun Lee hit a solo homerun.
Eugene Kingsale, Raily Legito, Bryan Engelhardt and Martijn Meeuwis had the lone hits for the Dutch, all singles.
Won Sam Jang (W 1-0) dominated in a complete game shutout. He allowed just four hits in eight innings, striking out seven. Cincinnati Reds prospect Alex Smit (L 0-2) started for the second time at the tournament, giving up eight hits, six runs and a walk in five innings. He struck out six. Rob Cordemans and Michiel Van Kampen also appeared on the mound for Holland.
