Gavin Ng follows Cy Donald to Royal Greys

Posted on February 21, 2008 by philipp

After the Royal Greys signed Cy DONALD several weeks ago, they also bring his buddy to Europe. Gavin NG and the former Rouen Huskies player are both from Mililani, Hawaii and played in the same independent league last season.

NG hit .265 (OBP .370/SLG .326) with 58 runs scored and 24 RBI in 79 games for the Chillicothe Paints in the Frontier League. The speedy outfielder stole 19 bases during the year.

The 25-year-old was a two-sport-star at the University of San Diego between 2002 and 2005. He was used mainly as a defensive substitute or pinch hitter/runner on the baseball team. However he had an on base percentage over .400 in three of his four years. He was considered as the fastest player in the West Coast Conference and was a first team all-state in his senior year. Besides his skills on the diamond, he also excelled on the football field. He was named two-time team MVP and was a first team all-state at running back and defensive back.

He will definitely help Merksem with his athletic abilities. Together with DONALD the two are going to try to defend the Belgian Championship, which were won by the Greys in 2007.
