Unipol Bologna has reached the finals of the European Champions Cup Final Four. On Wednesday afternoon they shut out the Rouen Huskies 4-0 in the first semi-final at Steno Borghese Stadium in Nettuno. An error in the third and a sac fly in the fourth by Andrea D’Amico gave Fortitudo a 2-0 lead. Another error and a RBI single by Leonardo De Donno doubled the score in the sixth. On the mound Luca Panerati and Matteo D’Angelo allowed just a combined three hits and two walks in nine innings to stop the French bats. Chris Mezguer gave up five hits, four runs (2 ER) and five base on balls in six frames.

Danesi Nettuno edged out L&D Amsterdam in the second semi-final in the evening. They won 1-0 thanks to a two-out RBI single by Renato Imperiali in the bottom of the ninth inning. Otherwise it was a true pitcher’s duel. Juan Figueroa issued just three hits in nine scoreless innings, facing just three batters over the minimum. Rob Cordemans had conceded just three hits and a walk in eight innings. Nick Stuifbergen replaced him in the ninth and took the loss.
