Sweden reached the second round at the 2012 European Championship with a 5-3 win over Greece on Tuesday afternoon in Haarlem. A three-run third broke up the tie for good, as Sweden claimed its third win in the tournament. A RBI single by Adam Sorgi and a two-run single by Philip Gajzler gave the Scandinavians a lead and they never looked back. Greece was only able to erase a 0-2 deficit in the second, but didn’t have an adequate answer later. Joakim Claesson picked up the win, allowing three unearned runs on eight hits and three walks in seven innings. Panagiotis Sikaras struck out ten in eight frames, but still ended up with the loss.
