European Pro Softball Series set to open in Italy on Tuesday / Livestream

By World Baseball Softball Confederation, www.wbsc.org

The USSSA European Pro Softball Series, presented by WBSC, will take off on Tuesday, 24 April, in Caronno Pertusella (Italy). USSSA Pride will face at the Francesco Nespoli stadium the Italian National Team at 7 pm local time (1 pm US Eastern). Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, 25 April, at 4 pm local time.

Both games will be streamed live via WBSC YouTube Channel. Clicking below you can directly access to game one stream as it happens.

The USSSA Pride have won the regular season of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) 4 times (2014 through 2017) in a raw. Their last league title (Cowles Cup) was in 2014. Left handed slugger Kelly Kretschman, who plays rightfield and throws righthanded, looks like the player to watch. She earned the NPF Triple Crown in 2016 (.443 batting average-13 home runs-45 runs batted in) and was honored as the best NPF offensive player in 2017 (.500 batting average; 58 hits on 116 at bats). A 39 year old veteran, Kretschman has played in the NPF since 2005. Left handed pitcher Keilani Ricketts posted a 10-3 record last season, striking out 72 over 71 innings pitched. She was named to the All NPF team for the first time in her career.

USSSA Pride ROSTER

The USSSA Pride will begin their 2018 season in the National Pro Fastpitch on Wednesday, 30 May, against the Aussie Spirit

Italy has added to the roster announced previously utility infielder Amanda Fama. Born in 1989 in the USA, she graduated at the Concordia University Irvine. She has played in Italy 2013 through 2015 and has competed in the NPF (2016, 2017) for the Scrap Yard Dawgs.

The official ball of the European Pro Series will be the Teammate TM4712. This will also be the official ball of all competitions sanctioned by the European Softball Federation ESF.

Between game 1 and 2, Caronno will host a clinic, run by players and coaches of the USSSA Pride, for the players of the U-15 All Star of the Lombardia Region. The clinic is open to all the softball coaches of the Region.

Caronno Pertusella is a town (almost 18,000 inhabitants) in the Province of Varese but actually part of Milan’s metropolitan area. Caronno lies 24 chilometers north west of Milan and 48 chilometers south east of Varese. The border with Switzerland is 33 chilometers far.
