Italian third baseman Alex Liddi singled in the ninth inning of Monday’s 5-11 loss of the Seattle Mariners against the Texas Rangers. The 23-year-old entered the game as pinch hitter for Justin Smoak in the last frame of the contest and hit a ball off Scott Feldman into right field. He eventually was stranded at second base to end the game. It was his first appearance in the 2012 MLB season.
