Italian corner infielder Alex Liddi has found a new home. The first player from the MLB European Elite Camp to reach the big leagues has signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles. He will start the 2016 season with their Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk. The 27-year-old is currently playing winter ball in the Mexican League with Yaquis de Obregon. Yaquis has reached the semi-finals after he batted .312 with seven home runs, 17 doubles and 36 RBI during the regular season.
In 2015 Liddi played for the Kansas City Royals organization in Double-A, batting .287 with 13 home runs and 56 RBI. It is going to be his second stint with the Orioles. In 2013 he got waiver claimed after the Seattle Mariners had removed him from the 40-man roster. Since then he spent time with the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers before joining Kansas City one year ago. He had made his MLB debut for the Mariners in September 2011.
