Templiers Senart, Bern Cardinals to battle for vacant EC Spot in September

Posted on August 29, 2009August 29, 2009 by philipp

The BERN CARDINALS (SUI) will have a chance to secure a spot in next year’s European Cups for Switzerland on September 26th and 27th. They will play a best-of-three series against the TEMPLIERS SENART (FRA), which had finished in sixth place in the European Cup in Matino, Italy earlier this year. The CARDINALS had won the European Cup Qualifier in Attnang-Puchheim, Austria in June.

Originally the TENERIFE MARLINS (ESP), which were sixth in the European Cup in Nettuno, Italy, and the other three European Cup Qualifier winner MGPU-SYOS 42 (RUS), KNTU-OSVSM (UKR) and MANNHEIM TORNADOS (GER) also would have a chance to play for a spot in next year’s European Cup, but MGPU, KNTU and the TORNADOS declined the invitation by the Confederation of European Baseball. The MARLINS stay automatically in the A-Pool.
