Cards and Flyers to battle for first place Sunday at the Allmend…
The Bern Cardinals (18-5) play host to the Therwil Flyers (20-4) with first place in the standings on the line. The Flyers recently took over at the top of the standings from the Cards, and will look to hold onto the top spot. The Cardinals, slumping from their lofty standards, are hoping to start playing the brand of baseball that has won them the last four Swiss titles. With what could be the preview of this seasons final, Sunday should be a hotly contested match-up to take the momentum into the playoffs. Game times are 11am, and 2pm.
Challengers look to secure playoff spot…try to move into a third place tie as they visit Lausanne
Sunday in Lausanne, the two other teams that will be in the playoffs this season, face off with playoff seedings on the line. The Lausanne Indians (16-8) who have an outside shot at second place, will look to improve their playoff seeding to include home field advantage in the semi-finals. The Zurich Challengers (14-8), with two wins, moves into a virtual tie for third place. With a lot on the line, and a history of bad blood, these two games could prove to be well worth watching.
Zurich Barracudas and Reussbuehl Eagles to play Sunday
A week after the ‘Cudas (9-15) were officially eliminated from the playoffs for the first time in seven years, they travel to the last place Eagles (1-23) for two games Sunday. Without any implications in the remainder of the seasons games, the ‘Cudas will need to find something to play for. This should give coach J.P. Mottl a chance to see what some of his young guys can do for the 2010 season.
