Canada recovers with romp against Thailand

The Canadian team wasted no time to destroy the pitching staff of debutant Thailand. The game was called after seven innings, due mercy-rule, with an 18-0

Canada scored 18 runs on 16 hits score. a day after they were shutout by Korea, were they had managed just two hits in nine innings. They led by nine runs after the third period. The bats didn’t stop the pounding and added nine more.

All nine offensive players reached base on Thursday. Emerson FROSTAD and Jimmy VAN OSTRAND did the major damage. FROSTAD hit two homeruns, including a grand slam in the seventh, going two for firve with seven RBIs. VAN OSTRAND (3-5) got a two-run-triple and four RBI overall. Mike SAUNDERS and Matt ROGELSTAD hit solo-shots.

Thailand is clearly overmatched at the World Cup of Baseball, losing their first two games with a combined score of 0-34.

Jonathan LOCKWOOD (W 1-0) had no problems to cruise through six scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and three walks, striking out six. R.J. SWINDLE relieved him with a perfect seventh.

Chantip TONGBAI (L 0-1) lost the game.
