The FC BARCELONA dominated CD PAMPLONA last weekend in the Spanish Division de Honor. In game one they scored eleven runs in the eighth en route to a 20-2 pounding. Emmanuel Febles, Felix Isasi and Albert Diaz (4-4, 2 RBI) scored three runs apiece. Isasi, Jesus Golindano and Jorge Miqueleiz drove in three each. Homer Baez (W 11-2) allowed just two unearned runs on two hits and four walks in six innings. Alexis Fumero (L 2-7) gave up 15 hits, nine runs (7 ER) and three bb in 6 2/3 innings.

In the second match BARCELONA even topped its rally from the first one. They scored all in an amazing 18 runs in the top of the eighth in an 18-3 victory to complete the sweep. Jesus Golindano and Jehan Machado combined for seven RBI. Emmanuel Febles went three-for-four with three runs scored and two RBI. Pedro Pablo Belmonte (W 12-0) allowed five hits, three runs and two walks in seven innings. Eneko Del Burgo (L 0-3) took the loss in relief of Juan Redin, who had held the runner up in the standings scoreless for seven innings.

Leslie Nacar (W 12-1) allowed just four hits and a walk in eight scoreless innings to lead the MARLINS to a 2-0 shutout over NAVARRA. The two lone runs were scored in the fourth frame on a solo homerun by Luis Perez and a RBI single by Nestor Perez. Alberto Espanol (L 0-2) conceded five hits, two runs and two bb in 3 2/3 innings.

In the second part of the twin bill the offense of the reigning champion and current leader took over. They hit five homeruns and scored 13 runs on 18 hits in a 13-3 win in eight innings. Daniel Martinez led the attack going three-for-four with two round trippers, three runs scored and three RBI. Luis Perez, Richard Montiel (4-5) and Victor Lopez also homered. Hector Perozo smacked the ball over the fence for the guests. Ivan Granados (W 10-1) allowed four hits and a walk in six innings, striking out nine. Diego Armando Perez (L 1-4) conceded seven hits, four runs and a bb in two innings.

HALCONES solidified fourth place in the standings with two victories in BILBAO. In game one they scored three runs in the seventh to overcome a two-run deficit en route to a 4-2 win. A two-run double by Jose Antonio Romero was the big hit. Alejandro Carrillo went four-for-five with two runs scored. Ronny Malave (W 6-4) allowed eight hits, two runs and a walk in a complete game. Fidel Mane (L 6-4) conceded nine hits, three runs and a bb in 7 1/3 innings.

In the second match VIGO once again turned an early two-run deficit into a win, this time by a score of 5-3. They rallied for three runs in the eighth to seal the victory. Kelvim Marianucci had scored twice in hits by Rene Reyes to bring BILBAO up in front. Juan Jose Lopez (W 4-3) issued twelve hits, three runs and three bb in 8 2/3 innings. Alberto Magallon (L 5-5) surrendered seven hits, four runs (3 ER) and a walk in seven-plus innings.

SANT BOI swept the Catalonian duel against VILADECANS, but needed twice extra innings to accomplish the feat. In game one a sac fly by Javier Flores drove in the decisive run in the 13th frame for a 4-3 victory. VILADECANS had taken a fast 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a three-run double by Edgar Hernandez. But SANT BOI slowly climbed back and tied the game in the eighth. Oscar Alvarez (BOI) went eleven innings, allowing eight hits, three runs and a walk. He struck out 13. Delio Miguel Martinez (VIL) gave up five hits, two runs (1 ER) and a bb in 7 1/3 innings. Yaeko Vazquez (W 1-0) picked up the win. Oscar Angulo (L 0-1), in his first appearance on the mound, took the loss.

SANT BOI rallied for four runs in the top of the tenth to beat VILADECANS 13-9 in the second match. They had tied a slugfest in the ninth to force extra innings. Each one of the nine players in the starting lineup had at least a hit and scored a run. Five collected two RBI apiece. Edgar Hernandez scored three times for VILADECANS. Starters Jose Estebin Cruz (BOI) and Marc Jodar (VIL) had problems to stop the opposing offenses and received no-decisions. Yaeko Vazquez (W 2-0) also picked up the win in game number two. Pol Llopis (L 2-4), who also already had pitched in the first one, took the loss.
