The American TV show host Jerry Springer dropped by a British Baseball game last weekend and even helped out as an umpire.
The report from BaseballSoftballUK.com:
In a surprise visit to the London Metros’ AAA League game against the Essex Arrows on Sunday, June 21, TV chat-show host Jerry Springer told the players about his love for baseball and how much he was enjoying the chance to watch a game while visiting London.
.
Jerry helped out as a base umpire during his visit and in the break between games took the opportunity for a little batting practice with London Mets pitcher Rob Anthony.
.
During a chat with the London Metros team, Jerry told Head Coach Neil Warne how impressed he was with the London Mets Club and the facilities at Finsbury Park. Jerry, the former Mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, said “To run a youth programme reaching 6500 kids a year in inner city London is great. To do it with volunteers and almost no funding is amazing.”
.
League-leading Essex Arrows continued their unbeaten streak to take both games from the London Metros, although they had to fight back from a 5-0 deficit before they overwhelmed the Metros in Game Two to run their season record to 16-0.
