Tranås and Rättvik win in Elitserien

Posted on June 11, 2009June 11, 2009 by philipp

Joaquin Pedroso, Sundbyberg HeatTwo games were played during the week in the Swedish Elitserien. On Tuesday the RÄTTVIK BUTCHERS crushed LEKSAND 14-7 for their third win in a row after starting the season 0-4. They are now tied with their recent opponent with a 3-4 record in fifth place. One day later leader TRANAS defeated KARLSKOGA 6-2 and defended first place in the standings. The BATS dropped to 6-4 and fourth place. The second game on Wednesday between SUNDBYBERG and STOCKHOLM was rained out and will most likely be made up next week.

The Elitserien continues on Saturday with three doubleheaders. The matchup between the HEAT and TRANAS will headline the game day. SUNDBYBERG is going to miss center fielder Joaquin Pedroso, who currently leads the league with a .578 (OBP .794/SLG .894) batting average. He fractured his foot stealing second base in game two of Sunday’s doubleheader against KARLSKOGA and could be out for the year. He also was a candidate for the Swedish National Team, which has the Prague Baseball Week ahead in July and the Baseball World Cup in September.
